Heres Your Sign: Going Where God Calls You

So many of us "want more," complain about our lives, want more than your portion of what you've been given. We want to travel, we want material things, we want an awesome marriage, we want jobs where we want to live, etc. We sometimes can feel that where we are in life isn't good enough. Or not as good as someone else's life. Don't live an "er" life, always trying to be bett(er). I crave the feeling of more. I want to know I lived a life that was worth living and that Christ is pleased with me. I live for the experiences, not materials. I want to live a legacy.

God has had many callings in my life. Every step I take is a calling from God himself. He has led me to Atlanta, Georgia, Laredo, Texas, Cadadupa, Jamaica, Bryant, Arkansas, and now Athens, Arkansas. These are places in which I have either lived or taught or will be teaching. Each place has an experience that allows Christ to be shown. And that is what we are here for, to show the love of Christ.

At the beginning of any calling, we wonder WHY God has called us here. What is the plan for this path in life? But the beautiful thing is not knowing. Trusting in Christ to deliver you into a plan that is beautiful and miraculous is where we please Him. I remember when I first was called to be a missionary. I was terrified, but I was so excited that God was going to use ME! Little ole me? What could I do? But that's the thing, it's not us. It's Christ working through us. We shouldn't worry about what He has planned for us. He is going to take care of us.

You don't have to be perfect, just be willing.

The blessings that come along with being willing are beyond compare. Whenever you give into Christ, He rewards you-here on this earth, but also in Heaven. Standing up for Christ and going where He calls is becoming so uncommon these days. We are under more pressure than ever to speak up about Christ and Christianity is dropping. No matter what God is calling you to do, there is a reason and He's asking you to do it because you would do the best at it.

My most recent experience with following God's calling is to Bryant to teach Family and Consumer Sciences. I was moving two hours away from family, my husband (boyfriend at the time) was only home 10 days out of the month, and it was my first year of teaching. Thankfully, my friend Mandi, lived 15 minutes away; without her I would have been so lonely! Little did I know, I would be getting married and more importantly spreading God's word. The experiences I have had at Bryant, literally have changed my life. My kids tell me I've changed their life, but in reality, they made my year at Bryant one that I will never forget. I received over 100 thank you notes from students, a life impact award, and memories that will never fade. This was only possible because I gave into what the Lord was calling me to do. He knew that by Him working in me, He could do some incredible things. I shed many tears. Some for frustration, some for loneliness, some for moments of joy and being so proud of my students, but most were for the sadness I felt because I am leaving them. But because I went where I was called, God used me to share His love and His word. My students know I am a Christian. Working in a public school in today's world, that can be very dangerous. But God used me in a way that was appropriate. He used me to touch and change the lives of students. It's hard to think that what is coming could surpass this year at Bryant, but I know He has me moving to be with more students who need to feel His love. I know He would never send me somewhere I am not needed. He has sent me so many places where His love was shared.

No matter where he's sending me, or sending you, you have a purpose to be there. You may not know your purpose, but He does. He knows your future and you will be rewarded later. I thought that living in Bryant would be awful, but I have grown to love these students. Being a missionary terrified me, but I made SO many friends, memories and helped so many people in need. Whatever He is calling you to do.. Go. Do it. We only have one life to live. We are meant to live for him. If you want more, you have to give more and be willing do more.

Isaiah 6:8- Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
